Forum: etree Subject: Can't fill in metadata

I just uploaded a show

http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=34518

and noticed a couple of oddities with the process. First, when I imported the show (after the upload was done), the main page was pretty much empty, almost as if the information (source, lineage, song titles, notes, MD5 contents) that's usually pulled from the info text and MD5 file hand't been pulled. I filled it all in. When I pressed on the "Describe the files" button, instead of the usual pop-up with an entry for each file, I got a pop-up with "Please specify metadata for the files associated with this recording. Some information might be filled in for you - please verify that this information is correct" in it, but no entries for the individual files.

The show is now in a "No metadata describing files found. Waiting for user to enter metadata." status, but when I try to edit the info, which ends up going to

http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-meta-files.php?id=34518

I get the same as the original (empty) file details pop-up. So I don't have metadata, and I can't enter the metadata. Am I doing something wrong, or are there still some server problems to be worked out?

Thanks,
Brad

I'm also experiencing the same thing on a show that I uploaded last night. So I think it's a more general problem, and not specific to your show.
(the one that I uploaded is this one: http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=34523)

I'm having the same problem. This is my first time going through this process and I'm glad it isn't just me :) I went through the steps and included the MD5 file in my upload so that should be it, right?

The message on the show page just changed to this:

ia12113.archive.org [20109]: No metadata describing files found. Waiting for user to enter metadata.

the MD5 file is definitely in the folder that I uploaded. Can someone make sure it is done correctly for me? thanks!

I just tried it again, and was the file details pop-up came up OK. IIRC, all I have to do now is wait, correct? There didn't seem to be any "mark resolved" button to indicate that I've fixed the problem, and I think the engine will just pick it up the next time it cycles through the shows it has to check.

Thanks,
BradM

The show's been processed successfully, and _quickly_ to boot. I filled in the info at 7am (my time), and by about 9:30am (IIRC), the derived formats had been produced, and by about noon, the show had been curator-approved and copied to its final destination. Bravo/thanks!

Aloha,
Brad
